Robert Strang is an experienced advocate whose practice concentrates in particular on the area of commercial law. He has substantial experience in the litigation of commercial contractual disputes and in related business disputes concerning the enforcement of securities and claims involving civil fraud. He is experienced in obtaining interim relief, including urgent injunctions. His practice also covers property disputes.
Robert is also a member of our professional negligence team and acts in cases involving claims against solicitors and other professionals. He has a particular interest in financial markets and has advised and represented clients in many claims against financial advisers involving, for example, poor advice, mis-selling, conflicts of interest and breaches of fiduciary duty. He is knowledgeable about financial products and markets, having worked in finance himself for many years before coming to the Bar, and he is well-versed in the FSMA regime.
Robert has also developed a high profile practice in Caribbean and Commonwealth constitutional and public law. He has appeared in many reported cases in the Privy Council concerning constitutional appeals and judicial reviews from jurisdictions such as Trinidad and Tobago, St Vincent, Bermuda and Mauritius. He has advised on many other Caribbean cases involving constitutional and public law at first instance and appellate level.
